Project Overview

This project involved the renovation, retrofit and extension of a historic cottage in Bungendore, NSW. The work required careful coordination between old and new construction, with a strong focus on structural repairs, detailed carpentry, weatherproofing and respect for the original home.

Completed during my time with Trend Building Solutions, this project helped shape the standards behind Melzer H.C. Building Co. — practical problem-solving, careful workmanship and a respect for homes with history.

The Work

The project included a new extension, major internal upgrades, structural and subfloor works, recladding, window replacement, insulation upgrades, wall and roof wrap installation, and repairs to hidden termite and rot damage discovered during the build.

My role included running day-to-day site works, coordinating key stages of the build and carrying out carpentry works throughout the project. A large part of the job involved bringing the home up to modern standards while keeping the character, proportions and feel of the original cottage.

Why It Matters
